In news writing, you have to grab your readers and tell them what’s important right away. In an article, the most important information goes at the top, followed by less important details, and then more background information at the bottom. This is called the inverted pyramid format and it makes it easier for readers to get the main points of an event even if they don’t read the whole article. In articles, it’s best to use the full first name and last initial of a person. This avoids jarring readers with unexpected switches in the person being referenced.
