In a world where information is instant, “late-breaking” refers to breaking news that occurs later than the rest of the day’s stories. This type of news is normally characterized by the use of short, dramatic news clips and often by lower thirds and alert crawls during regular programming. The term originated from a time when news was delivered on television and radio, and stations interrupted their programming for only the most urgent reports such as severe weather or an assassination.
A few slots for late-breaking abstracts are available this year at MSMilan2023. This submission category is designed to highlight new and important clinical research that becomes available after the general abstract deadline. Applicants should carefully consider whether their research falls into this category, and include on the questionnaire a justification for why it should be considered late-breaking.
In addition, during the Late-Breaking Science submission process, authors have the option to select that their abstract may be considered for a Featured Science Session. These sessions provide notable exposure and recognition for randomized controlled trials and other important clinical research that are likely to have significant impact on clinical practice or make significant advances in the scientific field. Featured Science presentations will also be under embargo at the same time as Late-Breaking Science presentations.
